Martha Graham
The Martha Graham dance company has been a world leader in the development of contemporary dance since its founding in 1926. Expanding the vocabulary of movement and forever altering the art form by adding social, political, psychological and sexual contexts. Graham has created a language based upon the capacity of how much the body can truly express itself through movement.
The company remained under Martha Graham's personal guidance for 66 years. During her long and remarkable career, Graham created 181 masterpiece dance compositions, which to this day, continue to inspire and challenge performers and their audiences'. Today, the company continues to keep Martha Graham's spirit alive, continuing to push the boundaries of contemporary dance and by actively working to create new platforms.
